Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars Outlaws has released its September update, addressing several key issues with the game’s stealth mechanics and adding new quality-of-life improvements. Launched in August 2024, Star Wars Outlaws is the first open-world game in the Star Wars universe, receiving generally positive reviews despite some criticisms. Players have praised its expansive planets, engaging sidequests, and space combat, though technical and combat issues have sparked frustration.
One notable point of contention was the early stealth missions on Mirogana, which players found excessively challenging due to protagonist Kay Vess being too easily detected. Even the game’s creative director, Julian Gerighty, acknowledged the difficulty and promised a fix in a future patch. This adjustment has now arrived with the Star Wars Outlaws Title Update 1.1.2, which makes enemies less likely to notice Kay during certain missions.
In addition to stealth improvements, the update introduces cross-save and cross-progression through Ubisoft Connect, allowing players to continue their game seamlessly across all platforms. Performance and stability have also been enhanced, including FPS optimization, VRAM improvements, and tweaks to the game’s graphical fidelity when using ray reconstruction and frame generation.
Other changes include updates to the UI and HUD, making Quality Mode the default setting on consoles, and NPCs receiving new idle animations across various planets. Numerous quest-related bugs have been addressed, alongside adjustments to motion blur and HDR brightness for a more refined visual experience.
Despite lower-than-expected sales and mixed reception, Star Wars Outlaws continues to receive developer support, with more updates planned ahead of its upcoming story DLC.
