The Emperor of Mankind is set to keep players thoroughly engaged when Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II launches. Beyond the main story, players will have the opportunity to dive into PvE modes or take on heretics in PvP battles.
A new gameplay video offers a closer look at one of the operations in Space Marine 2, taking players to Planet Kadaku. Here, as in the main campaign, they’ll face off against hordes of Tyranids. The video features three Space Marines battling a formidable boss known as a Carnifex.
But that wasn’t all that was revealed. We also got an in-depth look at the Capture and Control multiplayer mode. As the name implies, the objective is to hold key points on the map for a set period. The team that controls these areas accumulates points, with victory going to the team that reaches the score limit first or holds the most points when time expires.
The trailer effectively showcases the seamless blend of ranged and melee combat. Players can switch between jetpacks and rifles, or swap them out for a sword and shield. Just like in its tabletop origins, after a volley of gunfire, players can immediately engage in close combat.
In our recent preview of Space Marine 2, Dave Jewitt praised the game, saying, “Everything that made the original Space Marine great is still there, but now it’s more refined and evolved, making Space Marine 2 feel like both a familiar old friend and an exciting new experience.”
