The Road Ahead, an upcoming game based on the A Quiet Place film franchise, is set to introduce a unique ‘Microphone Noise Detection’ feature that adds a terrifying new layer to the gameplay. If players opt to enable their microphone, any real-life noise—whether it’s a cough, sneeze, or an unexpected interruption—can be detected by the game’s creatures, revealing the in-game location of the player’s character.
Players will step into the shoes of Alex, a young asthmatic college student, as they try to survive in this new narrative set within the Quiet Place universe. Developer Stormind Games has highlighted that this feature is designed to bring the “horror right into your room,” adding an immersive, spine-chilling twist to the experience.
The Road Ahead will launch on October 17, 2024, for Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, with pre-orders available for £24.99/€29.99. This new release is part of a lineup of projects from publisher Saber Interactive, which continues to push forward following its acquisition by Embracer earlier this year. Another anticipated title from Saber is Jurassic Park: Survival.
