Bethesda’s Starfield may have been one of the most anticipated releases in recent years, but it hasn’t yet reached the iconic status of Skyrim or Fallout. Despite high hopes, even the Shattered Space DLC has struggled, garnering a “mostly negative” rating on Steam. For some fans, Bethesda’s golden age hearkens back to The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, an era marked by originality and ambition. However, mods may offer the innovation that Starfield needs to rise to new heights—particularly a new one inspired by the seamless world transitions of Morrowind and Open Cities Skyrim.

In Morrowind, players could walk directly into a city from the open world without loading screens or gates, creating a more immersive experience. Now, the Seamless City Interiors mod, created by modder PanConKeso, seeks to bring a similar experience to Starfield. This new addition to the Starfield mod catalog eliminates loading screens between outdoor and indoor locations, creating a more fluid experience while exploring the game’s largest areas.

The mod works by tricking Starfield’s code, making interior spaces function as outdoor ones, which removes the wait time when transitioning between areas. However, it’s still in early development, currently limited to a few locations in Neon City. Compatibility with other mods could be a challenge, as this mod changes core game mechanics. For example, any mod altering interiors might encounter issues if the game now identifies those spaces as exteriors.

Despite these caveats, Seamless City Interiors is a promising addition to Starfield and could become one of the defining mods for Bethesda’s space RPG. You can download the mod on Nexus Mods and stay tuned as it continues to evolve.
