Sony has officially closed Firewalk Studios and permanently ended development on Concord, a hero shooter that struggled with player engagement and financial viability shortly after launch. Although originally planned for a potential free-to-play relaunch to attract a larger player base, Sony’s Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, confirmed in a message to staff that the best path forward is to sunset the game and dissolve the studio. Concord’s low player counts, with fewer than 700 peak users on launch and initial sales estimated at only 25,000 copies, left little room for a viable turnaround.

Firewalk’s closure also includes layoffs of its 170 employees, though some may transition to other roles within Sony.
