With Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl set to release in November, fans of the series—or those looking to dive into its post-apocalyptic world for the first time—will soon be able to experience the original Stalker trilogy on the go. Developer GSC Game World has confirmed that the trilogy will launch for Nintendo Switch on October 31st, arriving slightly earlier than originally announced.
Players will have two purchasing options when the trilogy hits the platform. The Legends of the Zone bundle, which includes all three classic games—Shadow of Chernobyl (2007), Clear Sky (2008), and Call of Pripyat (2009)—was previously released for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and now makes its way to the Switch. For those who prefer a more focused experience, each game will also be available individually.
The Stalker series takes players to an alternate version of Ukraine’s Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, where a second nuclear disaster in 2006 has turned the area into a dangerous wasteland filled with mutants, anomalies, and valuable artifacts. The series is celebrated for its unique blend of first-person survival horror, RPG elements, and its atmospheric, open-world design, all of which are expected to carry over to the Switch version.
This Switch port, developed in collaboration with Mataboo, promises to be fully optimized for the platform. Players can expect “refined visuals,” along with features like an “adapted shooting system” that incorporates gyro aiming and a touch interface. It will also support both handheld and TV modes for a versatile gameplay experience.
While Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl isn’t coming to Switch, it’s set to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC on November 20th, giving players plenty of time to immerse themselves in the original trilogy before the highly anticipated sequel arrives.
