Nintendo has revealed a new playtest program, dubbed the Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program, which will run from October 24 to November 6, 2024. Starting October 10, active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can apply to participate in the test on a first-come, first-served basis. The company is looking for up to 10,000 participants.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a Nintendo Account, and reside in Japan, the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain. Participants will be required to download exclusive software to their Nintendo Switch in order to join the test.
The playtest will focus on a new feature for Nintendo Switch Online, though specific details have not yet been disclosed. Nintendo Switch Online, launched in 2018, offers a subscription service that includes online play, cloud saves, voice chat, and access to a variety of classic games. The service’s Expansion Pack tier, introduced in 2021, adds even more benefits, such as libraries of N64, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy Advance titles, and DLC access for popular games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Nintendo has also recently announced an exclusive new offer for its subscribers: the Alarmo interactive clock, a retro-styled accessory available as a timed exclusive for Nintendo Switch Online members.
