In celebration of Alien: Isolation‘s 10-year anniversary, creative director Al Hope took to Twitter to announce that a sequel to the beloved survival horror game is officially in early development. “Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development,” Hope shared. “We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”
Although no additional details were provided, the logos featured in the announcement suggest that the game will once again be developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, just like the original.
Originally released in October 2014, Alien: Isolation has since been ported to multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and mobile. It also inspired a web series adaptation in 2019 and a companion book in 2022.
In GameSpot’s review of Alien: Isolation, they stated, “Alien: Isolation provides us a glimpse into a future that holds the Alien game you’ve always wanted. It is not, however, the vessel that carries you there.” The publication also reflected on the game’s divisive reception among both fans and critics.
While the release date for the highly anticipated sequel remains unknown, fans of the franchise can look forward to the upcoming Alien Romulus film and the Alien: Earth TV series, set to air in 2025.
