To close out August with a thrilling update, Dead By Daylight has released Patch 8.2.0, marking the official start of its highly anticipated Castlevania crossover. This latest collaboration with Konami, the second since their 2020 Silent Hill event, introduces Dracula, known as the Dark Lord, as the newest Killer, and Trevor Belmont as the featured Survivor. The update follows a brief period in the public test build, allowing players to preview the changes before the official release across all platforms.

Dracula, the iconic vampire, brings a new level of terror to the game with his Shapeshifting powers, making him a formidable adversary for Survivors. His primary abilities allow him to switch between different forms, each with unique advantages. In his Vampire Form, Dracula can summon Flaming Pillars that burn through obstacles in a straight line, creating an intense chase scenario. His Wolf Form enhances his tracking capabilities, allowing him to pick up the scent of Survivors, while his Bat Form provides increased mobility and stealth, though it also makes Survivors temporarily invisible to him, requiring strategic use of his abilities.

On the other side of the battlefield, Trevor Belmont, a descendant of the legendary vampire-hunting Belmont clan, arrives as a new Survivor. Trevor’s unique perks are designed to reward precise timing and skillful play. One standout perk, Exultation, allows Trevor to upgrade a held item after successfully stunning a Killer with a Pallet, giving experienced players a tactical edge in the heat of the match. Additionally, players can customize Trevor’s appearance with outfits inspired by other iconic Castlevania characters, including Simon Belmont and Alucard, adding a layer of visual nostalgia to the experience.

This update has been met with excitement from the Dead by Daylight community, who had been eagerly anticipating the crossover since Behaviour Interactive first teased the collaboration in early August 2024. Social media hints and cryptic messages stirred speculation, with many players correctly guessing that Dracula would be the star of this new crossover event. Now, with Patch 8.2.0 live, fans can finally immerse themselves in the dark, gothic world of Castlevania within the terror-filled realms of Dead by Daylight.
