Valve’s upcoming project, Deadlock, is already making waves with a significant concurrent player count, despite the fact that it hasn’t been officially announced. According to SteamDB, Deadlock is currently boasting a concurrent player count of 16,947, with over 13,000 players actively engaged, surpassing popular games like Payday 2 and NBA 2K24 at this time. However, attempting to install the game through the SteamDB page leads to an error message stating, “An error occurred while launching this game: Game configuration unavailable.”
Earlier this year, leaked footage of Deadlock surfaced online, suggesting that the game is a multiplayer hero shooter akin to Overwatch, with influences from titles like Valorant and Smite, as well as Valve’s own Dota 2 and Team Fortress 2.
Deadlock might not be the only project Valve has in the works. Rumors of Half-Life 3’s development gained traction after an actress’s resume listed her involvement in a Valve project referred to as “Project White Sands.”
