Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind Alan Wake, has provided an update on its ongoing projects, revealing that Control 2 has advanced to the “production readiness stage.” This means the game has successfully moved past the proof of concept phase. While no specific timeline was provided, Max Payne 1 & 2 reached this same stage about ten months ago and has now entered full production. Based on this pattern, Control 2 could begin full production around June 2025.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, which will be bundled together, are now actively in development, but no release window has been shared. These remakes will revisit the classic action games originally released in 2001 and 2003.
Additionally, Condor, a multiplayer spin-off of Control, has also entered full production. Remedy shared that the development team has made significant progress, working on multiple maps and mission types, and has initiated both internal and limited external playtesting to gather feedback and validate features. This is now the only multiplayer game in development at Remedy following the cancellation of a mysterious project codenamed Kestrel in May 2024. Remedy has since reallocated resources from Kestrel to its remaining projects, which may help expedite development. However, given the current stages of these games, their releases are still likely a few years away.
