According to Bethesda’s Slayers Club blog, Update 6.66 Rev 3 introduces the option to enable mod support through Steam’s beta branch. Support for the Microsoft Store version is expected “soon,” although there is no mention of a console version at this time.
Players who opt into the beta branch will have access to the id Studio Beta program, allowing them to create and publish original mods. Tutorials and an installation guide for id Studio are available as well.
This update is set to breathe new life into DOOM Eternal, which has maintained a strong post-launch community. Originally released in 2020, DOOM Eternal was praised for its extensive single-player campaign and intense shooting action.
In our initial review, we noted that “Eternal pays homage to DOOM 2 while building on the success of the modern reboot, making it a must-play for both longtime fans and newcomers alike.”
